New York, New York Casino & Hotel: One of The Best Las Vegas Hotels

If you are considering a visit to Las Vegas, Nevada, there is a good chance you’re looking at a lot of casinos and hotels to book for your stay. While some of the most note-worthy and flashy casinos are often booked up and have a higher price tag, one that I would argue flies under the radar is the New York New York.

That isn’t to say the hotel isn’t popular among Las Vegas visitors, but rather when compared to something like Paris Las Vegas, the pomp and luxury can make New York appear more dull - but while they don’t have all the European luxury Paris offers (it wouldn’t fit this hotels theme at all) what they do offer is convenience and simplicity.

Something I found extremely refreshing was the ease with which I navigated this hotel during my stay. The two hotels I spent the most time at were the New York New York (obviously) as this was where I stayed, and Ceasar’s Palace. We were in Vegas for a travel conference, which was being held at Ceasar’s Palace - which made sense, because the overall size of the hotel left enough room for our event with its MANY attendees, normal patrons and still seemed to be half-empty.

While this was advantageous for an event such as ours - and the shopping area here was amazing - we found the size of the hotel overwhelming and were glad we chose to stay elsewhere. It took fifteen minutes minimum from the front entrance to get to the ballroom our speakers were in each day.

So, for wanderers such as ourselves who love to adventure and document our vacation, it was much more convenient to stay at the New York hotel, where the layout is significantly simpler and smaller.

Now, keep in mind - I would stay at Ceasar’s in a heartbeat, I’m a sucker for beautiful architecture and luxurious stays - but for my short trip, there was a surprising amount to be loved about our stay - and room - at the New York New York hotel.

Aside from the convenience of the smaller layout, probably my favorite part about our stay was the view from our room. Which, let’s be clear, was nothing all that fancy - but with it’s enormous windows and backdrop of the hills, I was totally okay with the overlook of the city top. We also had a very clear view of the Big Apple rollercoaster as it slowly pulled its party up the ramp to launch them down the rest of the track.

Our room was bigger than your standard hotel room - much more similar to a suite, with an adjoining door for bigger parties. In our case, there was three of us and the two queen beds and whole-lotta sitting room was perfect.

There were two places we ate at that are inside the New York New York hotel, both sit-down and one a little more “fine-dining” than the other. First on the list was Gonzalez y Gonzalez, which served Southwestern style food and featured an authentic tequila bar.

We ordered the honey chipotle wings as an appetizer, steak fajitas, tacos and beef enchilada as entrees - all were fabulous!

Our second dining location was Nine Fine Irishmen, a pub that was inspired by nine Irishmen who lived extraordinary lives, built in the heart of Ireland and shipped to Las Vegas! There menu items are made with fresh Irish ingredients that pair best with ales, lagers, stouts and spirits.

We ordered Grilled Chicken, Fish & chips and chicken pot pie as well as a citrus Drop Martini - the service was fast, attentive and all food was great.

As I mentioned before, the New York New York does have the ability to boast about having a rollercoaster inside its hotel! The Big Apple rollercoaster is something we rode three times - each time more arguably freaky than the last. The rollercoaster features a 203 foot drop, 180-degree twist, and goes over 67 mph. To ride the rollercoaster you must be 54” tall, and the cost is $19 to ride, $10 to re-ride - or get an all day pass for $49.

With all that and more that we didn’t even touch on, I hope it’s on your mind to book a night or two at the New York New York Hotel - and even if you’re not, we have competitive rates for all the infamous Las Vegas Strip hotels!
